Better Teams

Better Teams

A team is not just the people in it. It is how they work together — how decisions get made, how communication flows, where things slow down, and where they break.

Some teams function well from the start. Most develop habits, workarounds, and unspoken assumptions that made sense at one point and now just get in the way.

Better Teams is for organisations that want to look honestly at how their team is operating and make it work better. That might mean improving how the team communicates across different working styles, clarifying who makes which decisions and how, or making the team more accessible and inclusive in practice, not just in principle.

The work is shaped by the team. There is no standard programme applied to every organisation. It starts with understanding what is actually happening — not what the org chart says — and building from there.

This is where the legal background becomes useful in an unexpected way. Twenty-five years of working with organisations on complex, high-stakes matters means I have seen how teams function under pressure, what breaks, and what holds. That perspective is what I bring.

hybrid meetings

A hybrid meeting isn’t the same as having everyone in the room. But it can be just as effective.

Many decades of business wisdom explains how to run effective in person meetings, but the same can’t be said for hybrid or online only ones.

We have experience of hybrid team working from the days before video conferencing, and have tips and tools to make your meetings rock.

inclusive meetings

Ever had the experience of walking away from a meeting thinking you were all agreed, but things didn’t quite pan out afterwards?

Communication skills play a huge part in this, but so does inclusion. To get the most out of your team, you need to get the most out of everyone in the room. We can help with strategies for running meetings that makes sure everyone makes their contribution in the right way.

facilitation

Sometimes you can be too close to an issue, the politics in the room make it hard to make progress, or you’re all just having too much of a good time to make the progress you want!

External facilitation cements your commitment to the meeting. Your time is precious – make the most of it. Your facilitator will talk to you about your objectives, help you get the right people in the room, and make the most of the time you have.
